I've spent years teaching guitar and studying how people learn music. One thing I've come to believe is that getting better isn't always about learning more. Often, it's about making sense of what you already know.
My goal is to help you connect those dots, understand what you're playing, and make real progress on the guitar.

Understanding Changes Everything.
Most of the guitarists I work with aren't trying to make a living playing music. They have jobs, families, and other responsibilities. But if guitar is something you genuinely love, I think you deserve a thoughtful approach to learning as well.
One of the biggest problems I see is the gap in guitar education. There are great lessons for beginners and fantastic advanced materials for college students. But there's a whole group of guitarists somewhere in the middle. You've learned scales, chords, songs, and techniques, but still struggle to understand how everything fits together.
That's where I focus my teaching: helping you connect what you already know and fill in the gaps to create the music you've always wanted to play.Â

A Little About Me
 I grew up in the New York City area, learning from some incredible musicians and spending years studying, performing, and developing my own playing. But music didn't come naturally to me. I struggled quite a bit, and I often found it difficult to learn from the teachers I worked with.
Fortunately, two things I've always loved are learning and teaching. Over time, those interests led me to earn a bachelor's degree in Music Education, two master's degrees in music, and eventually a PhD in Ethnomusicology.
Through all of that, I've become especially interested in making complicated musical ideas easier to understand. I know what it's like to struggle with something that seems to come naturally to everyone else, and I think that experience has shaped the way I teach.
